My Rehearsal Diary (EN)

As human beings living in a complex world, so much of our headspace gets spent on trying to keep all sorts of stuff in our heads. Having a rehearsal diary makes you able to focus on what you are rehearsing while you are practicing - and then leave that stuff in the rehearsal space until next time.

A rehearsal diary is a tool to help you as a musician make better decisions about your rehearsing - both in the short and the long term. Using an online tool like Notion for this can be very beneficial, as your data is accessible from anywhere and on any device.

Being a musician myself, I have been developing and using this rehearsal diary for the last 12 months. I studied music for 7 years, and I WISH I would have had this tool at my disposal back then. But now, being a professional musician, it can become even tricker to juggle all the different aspects of working as a musician, and keeping track of your rehearsing sessions can become quite overwhelming. Sometimes you need to work on many different repertoires, for different projects. This is where keeping a rehearsal diary becomes a life saver.

In this rehearsal diary, you can get a great sense of overview as you can at a glance see how your rehearsal sessions are getting along. You can keep track of how many minutes your session lasted, and get a weekly overview to track your progress in the short and long run.

For each daily entry, you have the option to answer questions to reflect on how the session went; what went well and what could be improved. Included is also a mood tracker, for you to keep score of how you are feeling each day.
